“The Hidden Workforce” is about the positive impact that people who live with different abilities make to the workforce and the world around them.
On our show, you will hear:
Stories from people who live with a massive variety of different abilities who are breaking stigmas and shattering the glass ceilings placed over them. We have had CEOs, business owners, actors, actresses, authors, community contributors, survivors, and more who live with disabilities of all types and severities on our show sharing their stories and how they are where they are today.
Leaders from nonprofits all over the state of Oklahoma, Nationwide, and Worldwide who are serving people who live with disabilities.
Representatives from State agencies such as DRS, DDS, and more on the programs and services they offer to serve people with disabilities.

What Did We Hear Last Week?
Last week, we continued our series of shows from the NABIS Live collaborative podcast series hearing from Dr. Joe Giacino as he shared with us all about the different levels of brain injury and disorders of consciousness as well as information about prognosis, treatment, and care that will amaze and maybe even shock you!
“Joseph T. Giacino, PhD is the Director of Rehabilitation Neuropsychology and Research Associate in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, Consulting Neuropsychologist in the Department of Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital, Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Harvard Medical School and Adjunct Professor at the MGH Institute of Health Professions. He directs the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital Neurorehabilitation Laboratory which focuses on the development and application of novel assessment and treatment methods for individuals with severe acquired brain injury (ABI) and disorders of consciousness (DoC). He served as co-chair of the Aspen Workgroup which established the diagnostic criteria for the minimally conscious state (MCS) and currently chairs the DoC Guideline Development Panel, co-sponsored by the American Academy of Neurology, American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine and National Institute on Disability, Independent Living and Rehabilitation Research. He currently directs the Spaulding-Harvard TBI Model System, serves as Co-PI on the “Transforming Research and Clinical Knowledge in TBI (TRACK-TBI)” and “TBI Endpoint Development (TED)” projects...” (https://braininjurysummit2026.org/speaker/joseph-t-giacino/)

Let’s welcome Dr. Juliet Haarbauer-Krupa! In this episode, Dr. Haarbauer-Krupa shares with us about Pediatric Acquired Brain Injury, the long-term health effects following TBI’s in children and what outcomes can look like throughout their lifespan, and more!

“Juliet Haarbauer-Krupa, PhD, was a Senior Health Scientist on the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Team in the Division of Unintentional Injury Prevention (DUIP) at the Injury Center. As a behavioral scientist, her role on the TBI team was to devise research projects and products to better understand trends in TBI in the US and to improve health outcomes for individuals living with a TBI. She was project lead on the Report to Congress on the Management of Traumatic Brain Injury in Children and the Return to School Projects in the division. Recent publications report on life expectancy and unemployment outcomes for moderate to severe TBI, stroke and TBI, PTSD in adults with mild TBI, point of healthcare entry for children with concussions, talking to young children about concussions, improving clinical practice for concussion diagnosis, and service delivery systems for children with TBI. Dr. Haarbauer-Krupa has 30 years of experience and has authored over 20 publications and presentations in the area of traumatic brain injury with specialties in rehabilitation and pediatric populations. She currently holds an adjunct position in the Department of Pediatrics, Emory University School of Medicine.”
