What Did We Hear Last Week?

Last week we heard all about Happy Hands Education Center from their Executive Director, Jan Pride.

Happy Hands Education Center in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, is a Christian, non-profit, accredited school for children who are deaf or hard of hearing, serving infants as young as six weeks through kindergarten. They also have an elementary school that serves students through 4th grade and will be adding grade 5 next year.

Jan shares with us all about the incredible work and impact Happy Hands is making for their students who are deaf/hard of hearing- the community they have built and continue to build, the resources and services they provide to students and their families, their commitment to the deaf and hard of hearing community, their history, how they are growing, and so much more!

What is Slated for This Week’s Show?

This week we’ll hear from Tammy Braddock, a Healthcare Senior Configuration Analyst, as she shares with us 6 myths people often believe about people with disabilities and her personal experience with disability.

An exciting fact behind this episode is one of our show’s listeners and fans brought us the suggestion to feature Tammy on our show. They are a colleague of Tammy’s, and when Tammy shared this diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility presentation at their company meeting, they immediately reached out to us and felt like the information aligned with our show’s mission. It absolutely does!

We often say that our show is a resource, especially when it comes to breaking stigmas pertaining to people who live with disabilities in the workforce. Tammy does a great job sharing some common myths people believe about people with disabilities and helps in dismantling those myths, so everyone sees this community’s strengths and how important it is to meet everyone where they are. This understanding is crucial for inclusion in the workforce.

Tune in this weekend on Groovy 105.7 Saturday at 9:00am or Sunday at 3:00pm, or tune in to hear the show on Spotify, Apple, or iHeart Radio anytime you need a podcast fix.
